If you wander around Naoussa you will spot many restaurants with octopuses drying in the sun to become soft and tender-a classic technique that locals use to make the softest and yummiest octopus ever! Yummy!

• Soso (Naoussa): Hidden among Naoussa’s narrow alleys, Soso is a hidden gem that will stimulate all your senses with the traditional Parian food served outside on the tables. Soso is the perfect place for dinner, especially for those who want to try modernized traditional greek dishes.
• Siparos (Naoussa): Located at Santa Maria beach, Siparos is an incredible place to enjoy a flavorsome meal with stunning views of the beach. If you want to admire the out-of-this-world sunset while enjoying a Mediterranean dish, Siparos is the place for you.
• Stou Fred (Parikia): Want at a more luxurious restaurant with 5-course menus and incredible French wines? In the Venetian times, Naoussa was an important port and a fort was built to guard it against the Ottomans. The tower there was built in the 16th century and it. Can you believe that an actual fort (well, a part of it)  from the 16th century still stands on the island after so many years?

Lefkes is a cute little village in Paros with an authentic Parian vibe. Lefkes village is the highest point of Paros and has managed to stay the same despite the growth that came with tourism. If you want to experience life as a local, it is the ideal place for you.

Lefkes was the first capital of Paros and it is fιiled with neoclassical buildings and manors that are reminiscent of a different time. Take a stroll in the hidden passages and have a seat at a coffee shop to relax and take in the vibrant energy of the village.

What are the top things to do in Lefkes on Paros Island?

1. Marvel at the grandiose church of Agia Triada ( The Holy Trinity church)

The church of Agia Triada is the main church in the village and it is one of the most beautiful Byzantine churches on the island. The church is made of fine marble and it is decorated with numerous Byzantine icons. The sun shining on the ‘Lychnitis’(marble or Paros) provides a glimmering scenery for a perfect Instagram story.

2. Get a glimpse of the museum of Aegean folk culture

The Museum of Aegean folk culture was founded by Giorgos Pittas, and it a good place to

See household objects that every family uses in the Cyclades and especially the ones that were used in the past.

Now that you’ve seen two important spots of Lefkes, you can stop for a coffee at the coffee shop across the church called ‘Kafeneio’. Try out different treats and order ‘Ravani’, a traditional orange cake.

Parikia, also called ‘Hora’ is the capital of Paros and it is the main cultural center of the island. If you stroll around the town you will soon realize that Parikia consists of narrow streets and alleys, whitewashed Cycladic houses and small shops.

On a hill overlooking Parikia, you can spot the Castle which was built in the 13th century and it is reminiscent of a temple.

Around the area, you can find many impressive churches, like the church of Agia Eleni (Saint Helen), the church of Panagia Septemvriani, and one of the oldest churches on the island, the church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani ( Lady of the Hundred Gates).

1. The marvelous Panagia Ekatontapiliani church

The church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani is one of the best-preserved churches in Greece.

In the church, there are a large number of icons from the 17th and 18th century, including the icon of ‘The praying Madonna’ and ‘The Virgin Mary of Ekatontapiliani. You can pay a visit to the church and admire its glorious interior and learn more historical facts as well.

Day 3 of Greek island hopping itinerary: Hop on a ferry to Tinos Island

Tinos, here we come

Hey, sleepyheads! Today we recommend an early wake-up because we’re about to start our new adventure. Yep, you heard it. Paros has set some high standards but today we are visiting the holy island of Tinos!

Reach the island by ferry ( unfortunately there’s not an airport there ) and get ready to immerse in the gorgeous scenery of Tinos.

Check-in to your hotel in Tinos and get ready to go

As soon as you step off the ferry, you‘ll find yourself in Tinos town which is the most touristic point on the island. There are countless boats docked in the harbor and there are many cafes and restaurants scattered along the main road.

How to get around on Tinos Island

Tinos is a small island with many small villages all over the place. Some of them are quite difficult to reach without a vehicle. Of course, if you prefer taking the bus everywhere don’t worry! There are frequent bus connections for many of the island’s main locations. The tickets are quite cheap, depending on the distance of the location (around 3,00€-6,00€).

Go for a swim at the golden sand beaches of Tinos

Your amazing hotel is situated just some minutes away from St. John’s beach. What a nice opportunity to put on our bathers and go for a swim on our first day in Tinos right?

St. John’s beach is just a couple of minutes away from the hotel and don’t worry if you don’t have an umbrella with you as it is an organised beach. Saint John’s beach is a quiet yet beautiful beach with crystal clear waters and it is ideal for big families who want to relax in a peaceful environment with their kids. If you want to get some cocktails or have a snack there are also some taverns and a beach bar so you won’t have to go far looking for something to eat or drink.

Apart from St. John’s beach, Tinos has some other popular spots for swimming including:

Kionia (Chora): A cosmopolitan beach with the temple of Poseidon and Amphitrite closeby, perfect if you want to have a swim and explore the archaeological site on the same day.

St. Fokas (Chora): St. Fokas is the longest beach in Tinos and it is the ideal location for those who don’t want to go too far from Chora. There, you can rent an umbrella with sunbeds and spend the whole day relaxing. If you get hungry, don’t worry. You can find a handful of restaurants and beach bars along the beach.:)

Big & Small Kolimbithra (Chora): At the end of the valley of ‘Kato Meri’ you can find ‘Big Kolimbithra, a virgin beach with huge waves and a lot of reeds scattered around the area.

‘Small Kolimbithra’ might be the better option as it is an organised beach with sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as a beach bar and a restaurant closeby.

You‘ll probably come across a couple of bougainvillaeas trees, whose vibrant pink colour adds a special touch to the beauty of the island. Be prepared to see numerous restaurants, coffee shops and traditional tavernas on the waterfront and around the city. Explore the maze of alleys to find the best spot for you that suits your needs.

Tinos is widely known for being a religious location, especially for the Orthodox followers. Let’s see why.

The world-renowned Church of Panagia Evangelistra

Every year, thousands of people from around the world travel to Tino to visit the Church of Panagia Evangelistria. If you see a long red carpet from the harbor all the way to the church, it is because many religious people crawl their way up to the church with hopes of receiving a blessing or a miracle from the Virgin Mary.

❗️ Be careful: Please be respectful of the others and avoid taking photos and videos.

💭Tip: If you want to visit Tinos on the 15th of August, be aware that the whole island is usually full of pilgrims and it’s quite difficult to find accommodation.

Day 4 of Greek island hopping itinerary: Explore the majestic villages of Tinos

Good morning travelers. A new day has come. Get dressed, put a smile on your face, and let’s go have some breakfast. You can always sleep as much as you want and have breakfast at the hotel but you can also hit the road and grab something to eat in Tinos town.

Find a local bakery and try some ‘Tsimpita’ made with walnuts, almonds, or fried pastry and chard pies. If you want to have a proper brunch you should totally order ‘Froutalia’, an omelet made with locally produced sausages that will amaze you with its rich flavor.

Now that our tummies are full, let’s continue our 10 days Greece island holidays itinerary and explore the spectacular island of Tinos.

Discover the villages of Tinos

What makes Tinos special are the different traditional villages scattered around the island and are considered the prime example of Cycladic architecture. Immerse yourself in the out-of-this-world landscapes of Tinos and admire the little houses, the flagstone streets, grandiose churches and the lush nature surrounding them. Every village has its own protector-saint, and there are thousands of churches around the island.

Make sure you sit in one of the shops and taverns there and also buy a basket as the village is famous for its basketry.

Let’s take a closer look at the villages.

Begin your exploration in Volax

Volax is perched on a small hill in Tinos town. Volax means ‘rock’ in Greek and it got this name because of the different kinds of rocks in the area. Get enchanted by the unique terrain of the village which will trick you into thinking you‘re on the moon. The whole area will surprise you with its beauty, so make sure you have charged your camera for countless photos and videos.

Volax is also known as the ‘village of poems’ as the doors and windows are filled with verses from Greek poems and songs. You may find yourself humming the lyrics you read that will definitely fill your heart and free your mind.

Nearby, you can find a small theater that is still used for events throughout the year.

Marvel at the spectacular village of Pyrgos

Pyrgos is one of the biggest and most picturesque villages of Tinos. Pyrgos means ‘tower’ in greek and it was named after the Venetian tower that was built in the 16th century as a defence mechanism for the whole area. The whole area is famous for all the marble creations and especially the museum of marble working.

The churches of Agios Nikolaos (St. Nicolas) and Agios Dimitrios (St. Demetrius) are structures with extensive use of marble that makes the whole area look magical when the sun makes it glimmer. You can also enjoy a traditional meal in one of the local tavernas there. The whole atmosphere will inspire you to stay longer.

Tinos is not famous for its nightlife. There are a few bars at the port and some others in Pallada and the outskirts of the town. Day 5 of Greek island hopping itinerary: A new day in the island of Tinos

Good morning sunshines? How was your sleep? Are you ready for another day full of fun? First things first, wash your face, get dressed, put your sunscreen on and let’s find a cool place to enjoy our breakfast.

You can locate a couple of different coffee shops and all-day bars that serve delicious breakfast with gorgeous views and friendly staff.

We can suggest some great places like Myrtilo (Tinos town), Mikro Cafe (Tinos town) with its many vegan options and Athmar (Panormos).

Choose from a variety of sweets, numerous vegan options and traditional delicacies that will satisfy your hunger and give you enough energy to enjoy your day.

The cute little village of Kardiani

Kardiani is situated 20 km away from Hora and it is probably one of the most picturesque villages in Tinos. As soon as you get there, admire the impeccable view of the Aegean sea and marvel at the churches there. Kardiani is built on the cliffside of mountain ‘Pateles’. Capture photos of the creek running through the mountain and the village. Roam around the main square and check out the orthodox churches of ‘the assumption of Mary’ and ‘the Birthday of Mary’. Take some time to relax and take in the whole scenery which will amaze you with the beautiful nature and let the wind caress you and cool down your body.

Time to move on to the village of Isternia to get a glimpse of its marble creations

Isternia, the marble kingdom

Not far from Kardiani village, Isternia is a great spot to admire the scenery of Mount Meroviglia and the incredible marble creations in every part of the city. Have your camera ready to capture the passageways made of marble and the traditional two-storey houses in the whole area.

Isternia is a famous location because many popular sculptors were born there. You can find the ‘Museum of Isternian Artists’ in the village to learn more about the artists from the area and admire their artistic works.

If you‘re in the mood for a coffee or a tasty meal you can sit at Exomeria, Mayou all-day bar and Orizontas and embark on a gustatory trip with marvellous views of the Aegean sea.

Finish your day with a final walk

You can go and chill by the beach and swim in the refreshing waters of Tinos (Isternia beach is a good option as it’s not far from Isternia village) and afterwards go and have a final stroll in Tinos town. Day 7 of Greek Island Hopping Itinerary: Let’s travel to Kefalonia

Hey traveller! After immersing yourself in the vibrant city of Athens and getting enough rest to continue our fantastic journey, it’s time to pack our stuff again and head for Kefalonia. We know that you‘ve heard a lot of incredible things about Kefalonia as it’s a very famous travel destination for tourists. You‘ve probably heard about the beaches that have nothing to envy from the aquamarine waters of the Caribbean and it is time to find out for yourself. Let’s go!

How to get to Kefalonia

You can travel to Kefalonia by plane or by ferry and choose the most appropriate transportation type that suits your needs. If you decide to fly to Kefalonia you can get to ‘Eleftherios Venizelos airport’ in Athens and get on a plane from there to Kefalonia. If you decide to travel by ferry, there are several options to choose from:

1. Get on a bus from Athens and travel to Argostoli where you can get on the ferry to Kefalonia (Poros port),
2. Take a bus to Kylini and get on the ferry to Kefalonia (Poros port).
3. Take a bus to Patras and get on a ferry to Kefalonia.

You may have to get on another bus once you reach Kefalonia (Poros) to go to Argostoli which is the most touristic part of the island.

How to get around in Kefalonia

The best way to move around in Kefalonia is by car or bike. Public transport there is not very well organised and the timetables might exhaust you. Make sure that you book your vehicle beforehand as there is a high demand, especially in the summer.

The north part of Kefalonia

Get on your vehicle and head north, following the coastal road overlooking the magical waters of the Aegean. Admire the glorious landscape and feel the refreshing breeze caress your face and get ready for an amazing time in Kefalonia. On your way to the north part of the island, have a stop at Myrtos beach, one of the most famous beaches in Greece.

First stop: Myrtos beach

Myrtos beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece and has won numerous awards for the quality of the waters and its incredible scenery. The main square of Assos is called Paris and you‘ll spot a plaque dedicated to France, which helped rebuild the village after the earthquake that took place years ago and destroyed most of the village.

Day 8 of Greek Island hopping Itinerary: Perceive the beauty of Kefalonia

Good morning travelers? Did you sleep well? Get ready for another fantastic day in Kefalonia as we still haven’t seen the best parts of it. Before we leave our room, let’s have something for breakfast to get us going. After all, it’s the most important meal of the day.

You can always have breakfast at the hotel but you can find some pretty great spots in Argostoli that serve great breakfast.

Try greek classics like Spanakopita (Spinach Pie), Tiropita (Cheesepie) or bougatsa (custard pie with phyllo), and a refreshing iced coffee, perfect for the hot summer days. Some great spots for brunch are Kastro Cafe (Kastro) and Mel’s (Argostoli), but you can grab something from a local bakery and set out for your next adventure.

Antisamos, one of the most beautiful beaches in Kefalonia

Antisamos is where the famous movie ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ was filmed and is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. If you‘re a fan of the film. Expect to see a fabulous beach bar, sunbeds, and watersports in the summer. If you‘re in the mood, go and take a look at the Acropolis of ancient Sami (a fortified town that used to be powerful in the past and you can see many of its remains in Lapitha mountain).

• Makris Gialos (Argostoli):  Makris Gialos boasts a stunning landscape with pine trees and lush nature, creating a spectacular atmosphere.
• Skala Beach (Elios-Pronnoi): Skala beach is one of the cleanest and organized beaches in Kefalonia and has also been awarded the blue flag for its quality. During the summer season, Skala gets crowded, so make sure you search for a quiet spot if you want to relax. Try different activities on the beach like snorkeling and join tours to nearby secluded islands and coves.
• Foki Beach (Fiskardo):  The out-of-this-world landscape with lush vegetation and olive forests around the beach will make your stay on Foki beach unforgettable. It is home to many seals and it was named after them (in greek:fokia=seal). Not far from the beach, locate a path that leads to hidden coves hidden from plain sight.

Melissani and Drogarati Caves

Drogarati is a majestic cave with remarkable formations of stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is about 150 million years old according to numerous geologists. How crazy is that? Get on a small boat and explore the lake while looking around to spot incredible stalactites and stalagmites all over the area. Once you get off the boat, get to the lower levels of the cave and experience the breathtaking rock formations of ‘Sala of Apotheosis’.

The lake of Melissani includes an islet where archaeologist S. Marinatos discovered Pan’s sanctuary. The findings are displayed in the Archeological Museum of Argostoli. Reach the lake by an underground tunnel and explore it with a boat with the help of a guide. Marvel at the incredible stalactites and the perfect blue colors of the waters and transport yourself into a world of wonder.

💭Tip: Buses to and from Sami are not frequent. Rent a vehicle or find a tour that includes Melissani as part of its itinerary.

Kalimera everyone! It’s time to explore the south part of Kefalonia. Let’s get dressed and explore Argostoli.

Try to wake up early enough to see the turtles in the harbor. Around 9,  fishing boats come in with the morning’s catch and many sea turtles gather to get some free treats. There are usually conservation volunteers around, willing to chat with the tourists and share their knowledge about the magnificent creatures.

Along the harbor are countless bakeries. Grab something to eat and let’s make our last day on the island the best one yet.

Wander around the Fanari peninsula and relax on Lassi beach

Explore the Fanari Peninsula and get to the striking lighthouse. Stop and have a swim in refreshing waters along the way and capture beautiful photos of the scenery. End your walk around Lassi and enjoy a delicious meal at a local taverna.

From Fanari, Lassi is nearby for a lazy afternoon on the beach and the beaches along the way get sandier the further you go. If you‘ve rented a vehicle, make your way past Lassi to way quieter beaches at Ammes.
